PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -

An 80-year-old Prescott man was struck by a car and killed Monday afternoon. The 26-year-old driver said she did not see the man because she was "dealing with a child in the back of the car," Prescott police said.

Prescott police said Leroy Berghoefer was out for a walk and crossing the street at Campbell and Rosser streets about 4:30 p.m. when he was hit. His head struck the street after the initial impact of the car and he was flown to the Flagstaff Medical Center where he died.

Police said the driver did not have a current driver's license and following the investigation, the findings will be sent to the Yavapai County Attorney's Office to review for possible charges.
