JACKSON, SC (WFXG) -

A man wanted for armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime is behind bars.

Shawn West Sr., 40, was captured Monday morning by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office bloodhound tracking team.

Deputies responded to a call at 8:42 a.m. about a suspicious person in the 100 block of Hidden Springs Drive, according to the sheriff's office. The caller identified the person as West and said that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

West was one of two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery that happened on March 18 in the 1000 block of Old Double Springs Road in Jackson, according to the sheriff's office.

When deputies arrived and tried to make contact with West, he and a woman ran into a wooded area behind houses on Hidden Springs Drive, according to the sheriff's office.

The bloodhound tracking team was called in, and they took West into custody just before 10 a.m., Capt. Eric Abdullah said.

The woman who was with him did not have any outstanding charges.

West was transported to the Aiken County Detention Center.

Another man, Justin R. Voigt, wanted in the robbery on Old Double Springs Road was arrested on April 15.
