RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A motorcyclist is killed after crashing into an 18-wheeler Sunday evening in Rankin County.

Rankin County Coroner Jimmy Roberts identified the rider as 35-year-old Dreyfus Cagins.

The accident happened on Highway 49 in Richland across from the Siemens Plant.

The crash occurred sometime around 5:15 p.m.

Richland police responded to the scene in the northbound lane.

Rankin County Coroner Jimmy Roberts identifies the rider as Cagins.

The Byram resident died at the scene of blunt force trauma.

We are told that he crashed into the side of a tractor trailer.

"He wanted to come home last night . I said boy don't get on that highway tonight. Wait until tomorrow. Might have been better for him to have come home last night," said Floyd Knight, the victim's brother.

"One of my members had an accident last night on I-220 by a hit an run driver and we were actually meeting him to visit him at the hospital and Dray was coming from his home to meet with us," said a member of Friends of Fallen Riders.

Family members say Cagins worked off shore.

An autopsy will be conducted.
