God keeps me high concert; alternative to 'Weed Day'

MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Although today (Sunday) is Easter, some people are celebrating another "TRADITION."

April 20, in recent years has become known around the world as "WEED DAY".

But members of the Church Triumphant Global in Ridgeland set out to spread a different message.

They want to educate, motivate and inspire our youth to stay far, far away from marijuana.

Sunday afternoon, they hosted a free "God Keeps Me High" concert.

The family-friendly event also featured giveaways during the musical performances.

"We know that people at 4/20 today will be lighting up and smoking marijuana, smoking weed and we wanted to be the kind of church that provided an alternative to our youth and adults and families, because it's not just affecting children, it's affecting so many different people," said Pastor Tonya Ware.

The church also asked a member of law enforcement to come and reinforce the message that drugs are bad.
