OLD BROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Firefighters have contained a fire that broke out at an abandoned bar in Old Brooklyn just before 6 p.m.

The call came in, "Bar on fire!" The scene was described as, "Hot and red!"

The smoke though has residents concerned late this evening. One woman who lives close to the I-480 bride on State Road, she said the smoke has reached her home and the entire block is smokey.

"It's smoky. The smoke is blowin'. It had a funny smell to it. Smelled like someone burning tires," said Samantha Langevin. "The smell is not normal."

Six fire trucks and two chiefs were dispatched to an old bar that was called "Helen's" at 5:52 p.m. Sunday, April 20.

There wasn't anyone inside, and there aren't any injuries. What ignited the flames remains under investigation.

The old bar sat at West 56th and Storer. Firefighters are still at the scene.
