MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – An officer with the Memphis Police Department is charged with sexual battery that stemmed from events that happened during a traffic stop on February 11.

While on duty, MPD Officer Meekose Evans, 30, reportedly stopped a 30-year-old woman in the area of Eastwind Drive and East Raines Road. According to Memphis police, Evans removed the driver from her vehicle, inappropriately touched the victim's breast, and then released her from the traffic stop.

The victim made a formal complaint to Memphis Police Internal Affairs. After an investigation, police charged Evans with sexual battery.

He has been employed with the MPD since January 2011 and is assigned to Raines Station "Delta" shift. Evans is now in a non-enforcement position during an administrative investigation.
