MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of a blind Valley woman's identity.

Elva Cadenas, 54, was arrested on Friday for using stolen documents to gain employment at a Scottsdale resort. She was booked into Fourth Avenue Jail and charged with five counts of aggravated identity theft and five counts of forgery.

Cadenas, a Mexican national living in Tempe, had been employed as a housekeeper at the Three Palms Hotel at 77th Street and McDowell Road since July 2013.

She admitted to detectives she paid $350 for a stolen Social Security card and Arizona driver's license from someone on the street.

The victim from Mesa learned her identity had been stolen when she was denied benefits through the Department of Economic Security because of the earned wages associated with the identity theft.
