MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A man Mesa police arrested in connection with a car break-in has been linked to three other vehicle burglaries, thanks to DNA evidence, officers said.

Branden Mahlum, 34, was arrested Wednesday about 9:15 p.m. after police got a 911 call from a citizen who saw a man force his way into a car in the area of 7100 East Main Street.

The suspect fled the scene on his bicycle. The witness was able to give officers the suspect's clothing description and direction of travel.

Officers located a man matching the description and discovered he was carrying items stolen from the vehicle.

During a police interview, Mahlum admitted to breaking into the vehicle, officers said. He was booked into jail on four counts of vehicle burglary.
