NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) - The North Augusta Department of Public Safety has released new details about a domestic dispute that left a father of four dead Tuesday.
Terry Cook is accused of shooting her husband, 21-year-old Dakota Cook, in the head around 10:30 a.m. at North Augusta Gardens, Lt. Tim Thornton said.
When officers got to the scene Cook said, "Up here, he's still breathing," according to an incident report released Wednesday.
They found Terry Cook's husband, 21-year-old Dakota Cook, in bed with the covers pulled up to his neck, according to the report. Blood was all around him.
Officers had been knocking at the door of their home, but weren't getting a response. When officers got inside, that's when Terry Cook told them to come upstairs. According to the report, she came around the corner with blood on her right hand.
A shotgun was at the end of the bed and the barrel pointing towards the front of the bed, according to the report. Terry Cook was arrested and questioned by police.
Four small children were in the house at the time of the shooting. They are now staying with the grandparents.
Cook is charged with murder.
The Aiken County coroner said Tuesday he thinks Terry Cook shot Dakota Cook after an ongoing domestic dispute. An autopsy was scheduled Wednesday morning in Newberry, S.C.
