No road closures scheduled for Masters week

Posted: Updated:
AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending construction closures on Augusta area interstates and roads next week in anticipation of the high volume of traffic during the Masters Tournament.

There will be no closures on Interstate 20, Interstate 520 or major state routes in Richmond and Columbia counties between Thursday and Monday, GDOT officials said. Drivers may see delays due to the high volume of traffic and should allow extra time for travel.

Although construction closures will not be occurring during this time frame, several areas remain construction work zones. Heavy equipment, traffic barricades, barrels and cones may be staged in close proximity to travel lanes. Motorists should exercise extreme caution in work zones, slow down and remain alert at all times.
