AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The main driveway into Georgia Regents Medical Center off 15th Street will be closed for construction starting Saturday.

The driveway will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday due to construction at the old GRU dental school building.

The staff and visitor entrances to the medical center parking deck on 15th Street will remain open to vehicle traffic, but the m medical center entrance, commonly known as the South Entrance, will not be accessible by vehicle.

Friends, family and others who are transporting patients and guests to the medical center are asked to use the entrances on the Harper Street side of the hospital.

Security personnel will be stationed to redirect traffic throughout the five-day closure, and the driveway will re-open each evening.

Patients, guests and employees will still be allowed to walk in to the hospital through the South and West entrances.

The old dental school building, now called the Professional Building, is being renovated to house the new Georgia Regents Digestive Health Center and several administrative departments of Georgia Regents University and Health System.
