PAINT ROCK, AL (WAFF) -

A Jackson County school secretary is on leave, and school officials say they cannot reveal why.

Superintendent Keith Harding confirmed Thursday that Lori Mullican is on paid leave from Paint Rock Valley School, where she has served as secretary and bookkeeper.

The superintendent said Mullican has been on leave for some time, but said he cannot go into the details that led to putting her on leave. Harding said a hearing was set for Mullican Thursday, but it was closed to the public at her request.

After a meeting lasting more than four hours Thursday night, the school board recessed. The meeting is expected to resume next Thursday night, April 10.
