TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police identified the person seen pushing a girl on University Blvd. Saturday in a viral video as an 18-year veteran of the department.

The department said it's identifying Sergeant Joel Mann in the video because people put his name and personal information on social media, and the sergeant has received threats.

The department continues to investigate the threats and said it's reassigning him for the time being.

"Since this incident, Sergeant Mann has received several threats," TPD Sgt. Pete Dugan stated in a news release. "For safety reasons, the member is being afforded an alternative duty assignment. This is purely a precaution and not indicative of any premature judgment on his actions. We are currently investigating these threats and will seek prosecution as appropriate."

The department said it knows a lot of people want Sgt. Mann fired immediately, but that's not happening.

Instead, they're investigating what happened and what he did Saturday night and aren't going to decide anything until they finish the investigation.
