Crews battle large brush fire in Jackson

JACKSON, SC (WFXG) -

A man is in custody after starting a brush fire Tuesday in Jackson, South Carolina.

Officials said a man was burning trash when the fire got out of control. It spread 10 acres and at least four different departments responded.

The South Carolina Forestry, the U.S. Forestry, the Beech Island Fire Department and the Savannah Riversite Fire Department were all on hand to put out flames.

Officials said they arrived on scene around two.

The man who started the fire was taken into custody for illegal burning and could face a fine of up to $3,000.
