HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Harrison County toddler is now in a Dallas hospital after an accident Saturday morning.

Harrison County Sheriff Tom McCool said deputies responded to a report that a small child had fallen in the water at a home near the intersection of Highway 154 and Peteet Road in Harleton.

One-year-old Camp Peteet was playing outside with another child when the tot wandered to a small pond located on the property.

"An adult was watching two children, working in the yard and he got away," said McCool.

Camp was rushed to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview and later airlifted to Children's Medical Center in Dallas. McCool said he is currently in stable condition. According to a CaringBridge site that has been established for Camp, the tot is in the intensive care unit.

The County is trying to do a better job of spreading the word that these cooling centers are out there.  Don't let the gloomy clouds deceive you. The occasional cloud cover we saw on Friday is expected to disappear this weekend. This while the heat index will go above 100.  "Stayed hydrated, Check the heat index, don't go out unless you absolutely have or unless you need too," says ...
