AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The Polar Plunge Challenge at the Wilson Family Y helped benefit the Family Y of Greater Augusta's Annual Campaign.
The campaign raised over $112,000 and the Polar Plunge alone raised $2,500.
Participants and board members jumped into the chilly outdoor pool, but agree the cause helped them brave the cold temperatures.
"It was incredibly cold. It was a little shocking but then it was kind of cool, it was very, rejuvenating. I wanted to swim a lap," says Krystal McGee, executive director for the Wilson FAmily Y.
'It was cold when you first got in it was pretty nippy. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat for the kids," says Mike Heath, the Community Support campaign char.
And to donate without having to brave freezing temperatures visit the YMCA website or stop by the Wilson Family Y on Wheeler Road and donate in person.
