Aiken neighbors react to armed robbery

WARRENVILLE, SC (WFXG) - Cyrus Hannah has lived in Aiken for over 40 years and says crime in the area is rare.

"It's not something that normally goes on round through here," he says.

Thursday night police were called after a man was robbed at gun point in his home on Alex Dr. in Warrenville.Police say the suspects pointed a nine millimeter pistol at the victim's head and demanded he give them his money.

"It happened but we don't know why it happened. This it's not something that goes on everyday," Hannah says.

Hannah also says he's surprised this happened because police often patrol the area.

"We have crime check riding through here, they ride the neighborhood, they're doing their job," he says.

The suspects took two cell phones, a bank card, and other objects according to the police report.

Hannah says the neighborhood is a close knit community and they are there for support.

"Everybody pretty well watch out for each other," he says.

And until the suspects are caught, Hannah has some advice for his neighbors.

"Just have to keep locking your doors and be particular, and live on," Hannah says.

If you have any information you are urged to call the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
