James Brown biopic 'Get On Up' releases first trailer

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for "Get On Up," the movie chronicling the rise of the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. 

The movie takes viewers on the journey through the performer's life, from his impoverished childhood in Augusta, Ga., to his stint in jail, to his rise to fame. 

Featuring an all-star cast, "Get On Up" is set to hit theaters Aug. 1. The film features an all-star cast, including Chadwick Boseman as James Brown, as well as Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Dan Aykroyd.
