JACKSON, SC (WFXG) -

Aiken County deputies apprehended a man they say shot another man Thursday night in Jackson.

Investigators identified Corey Fields, 18, of Warrenville, S.C., as the suspect in the shooting.

Deputies responded to the 5000 block of Virginia Hill Court Thursday just before midnight. Responders found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper abdomen.

The victim was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Investigators obtained warrants on Fields for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Family members called Aiken County Sheriff's Office Friday evening to report Fields was at their house. When deputies arrived, Fields tried to allude them by jumping through a window.

During his attempt to flee, he received a laceration on his hand and ran into a wooded area. Deputies rushed Fields to Aiken Regional Medical Center. Upon release, he will be transported to Aiken County Detention Center.
