The Aiken-Augusta gem and mineral society held their annual show this past weekend.
They showcased rocks, minerals, and fossils found by local people. Many of the featured gems were found right here in the CSRA. During the three day show kids and adults were able to dig for treasure, shop for jewelry, and see professionals cut rocks and glass. One member of the local organization says its vital to get kids involved in geology.
"They're the only people who can save the earth and save what we have later on and learn about it. We put on the show not just to showcase what we can do but as an educational endeavor so that kids can come through and learn about rocks, minerals, fossils," said Chris Glass.
