Members of the Key Club at Prattvlle Christian Academy are in the middle of teaching what they hope will become a lifelong habit for the younger kids at PCA. It's the concept of recycling. The school population is around 700.
"It also sets an example for the younger children and working their way up to high school," said Key Club President Joey Flemming.
It was the club that got the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to bring a colorful dumpster to campus.
This will no doubt open the door for students to toss items into the dumpster that can be used again such as plastic bottles, cans and paper. Right now they're all being collected in the school cafeteria.
Brooke Wright is another member of the club and is discovering getting involved with this project is changing her for the better.
"It will help me be more aware of the little things I can do to help improve the environment," said Wright.
"I am more focused and I remind myself.. I drink a lot of bottled water and I'm recycling more," said Allison Fulfer.
Setting an example for being hands-on for the younger classmates, a key difference for members of the Key Club.
