Auburn PD arrest man for breaking into a motor vehicle

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Division has arrested 18-year-old ChristopherLathan on a felony warrant charging him with unlawful breaking and entering ofa motor vehicle.

The Auburn Police Division received a call on March 9 of apossible auto burglary. At approximately 9:41 p.m., officers responded to thecall at an apartment complex in the 600 block of North Gay Street. Police wereable to get a description of the two individuals who were seen engaging insuspicious activity. Officers met with the victim and were informed thatsomeone had entered their vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and went throughit, but did not take anything.

Over the course of the investigation, Lathan was deemed apossible suspect. He was contacted by officers in the area during the time ofthe incident, and matched the description of one of the suspects given by thecaller. He was arrested by police and was transported to the Lee County Jailwhere he will be eligible for a $3,000 bond.  

The investigation is still ongoing and additional chargesand arrest are possible.
