A fraternity brother has sued a former Crimson Tide football player for allegedly assaulting him.
Connor McKenna filed a lawsuit against Wilson Love in Tuscaloosa County over the weekend. It alleges that Love knocked McKenna unconscious during a March 2012 spring break trip.
According to documents, Mc Kenna is seeking $100,000 plus unspecified damages. McKenna claims Love attacked him "without any provocation," knocked him out and broke his nose.
Love signed on to play with Alabama in 2011 but never played in an official game. He graduated in December 2013.
Love's attorneys released the following statement:
"As you know, a civil lawsuit was filed against Wilson Love, a recent University of Alabama graduate and a former University of Alabama football player, over something that was supposed to have happened in California while they were on spring break. The fact Mr. McKenna waited almost two years to file these allegations against Wilson speaks to their lack of merit.
As we all know, a person can include almost anything in his allegations in an effort to draw public attention or get a quick settlement, whether the allegations are true or not. However, proving these unsupported assertions will be another matter entirely.
We plan on vigorously defending Wilson against these spurious charges, beginning with the filing of a Motion to Dismiss on his behalf within the next 30 days."
