AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A teenager is dead after a shooting in the parking lot of Kroger on Deans Bridge Road Thursday night.

The victim's sister, Vyneshia McNair said she still doesn't believe that her little brother is gone.

A faint fire burns in the parking lot of Kroger where 18-year-old Montravious McNair was shot and killed just weeks before his 19th birthday. His sister got the call from his girlfriend minutes after it happened and today she is wishing she could have been there to save him.

"His friends were there. They left my brother. They left my brother for dead. And I couldn't get here fast enough I probably would have taken that bullet for my brother. Or we would have been laid out on the ground together because I can't let my brother go out like that," McNair told WFXG.

The coroner said McNair was shot multiple times and another victim was shot in the hand and transported to GRU. Mcnair's sister said they had recently moved to Atlanta and her brother wasn't even supposed be in Augusta on Thursday.

"He wasn't supposed to be here today. He was supposed to leave with my mama yesterday. I guess he was waiting on me to leave, " McNair said.

Friday, deputies arrested 18-year-old Dequan Blake. Blake is facing a murder charge and six other people are facing misdemeanor charges for fighting in a public place. The arrests give Vyneshia McNair and her family peace of mind, but she admits won't bring her baby brother back.

"You're going to get punished. Karma is going to come back and you're going to get what you deserve. There's nothing I can do but I'm going to let go and let God deal with it. Just know your time is coming."

This is Richmond County's 4th homicide for the year and some folks are holding a stop the violence rally in the Kroger parking lot at 3128 Deans Bridge Road at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.

On Thursday a panel of historians held a "teach-in" at the Richmond County Library to share historical information about confederate monuments. Last year, there was a rally to take down the confederate statute right in the downtown area. These historians say they aren't trying to convince people whether or not to remove these statues - but wants the public to have a balanced view. There is discussion about another "teach-in" being planned in the future. Copyrigh...
