North Augusta purse snatchers could face more charges

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) - Two suspects are facing charges after a purse theft at a North Augusta Walmart Monday night.

A victim was walking out of the store around 8P.M., when two people knocked her down and took her purse. The North Augusta Department of Public Safety said one is an unidentified juvenile and the other is 17-year-old Tyron Miller. Both are charged with purse theft, but could face assault charges.

The victim suffered cuts after Miller and the other suspect knocked her down.

NADPS said one of the suspects led them to where the purse was during an interview.

Sgt. Maurice Ransom said, "During the course of the interview, he did give us information leading us to where the property was at. It was within Aiken city limits, so we went to the house and recovered the stolen property."

The home was abandoned. All of the property was recovered, except cash and a cell phone.

Officers are warning everyone to be mindful of their surroundings.

Sgt. Maurice Ransom said, "Just be aware of your surroundings. Secure purses and even though this is not a vehicle break in we're still saying secure items in your car."
