AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

One person is dead after a shooting in Aiken Monday evening.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office said witnesses heard gunshots around 7 p.m. on the 200 block of Green Rd in the Petticoat Junction area of Aiken.

They found a man nearby suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to GRU where he was later pronounced dead.

Isiah Miles, 35, of Beech Island, was shot multiple times according to the Aiken County Coroner.

Investigators have now obtained an arrest warrant for Reginald Jerome Hamilton, Jr, 22, for a murder charge. Deputies said that Hamilton is considered armed and dangerous. One Aiken woman said she's scared for her family's safety.

"I don't know what's wrong with people these day, I just don't. It's crazy."

She said she lives down the road from where Miles was found shot to death. Captain Abdullah, with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office said they need the public's help finding the suspect.

"He should be considered armed and dangerous, and we would like to take him into custody as soon as possible," said Abdullah.

Now that a suspected murderer is on the loose, this woman says she's scared for her family.

"Aiken used to be a very safe place and now, its just getting worse and worse. when we were kids, we could go wherever we wanted to. We didn't have to worry about being afraid but I wouldn't let them do it now."

This neighbor said there's not much she can do to prevent violent crimes from happening, but she offers her advice to those around her.

"I hope everyone will try to take care of their kids and raise them right so that this doesn't keep happening."

If anyone has any information about this case or any case, we encourage them to call the Sheriff's Office at (803) 648-6811 or Crime Stoppers at (888) CRIME-SC (888-274-6372).
