EVANS, GA (WFXG) - Kohl's department store plans to donate more than $20,000 to the Children's Hospital of Georgia.
The $22,632 donation is part of the Kohl's Cares Asthma Education and Awareness program. The donations were collected from Kohl's stores in the Augusta area.
The funds will go toward a free asthma screening and education even on March 22. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Kohl's located at 4227 Washington Rd.
"Asthma can be deadly, but we can help by teaching families how to live with asthma and the importance of an asthma action plan," said Jennifer Anderson, Director of Respiratory Care Services at Children's Hospital of Georgia. "We hope our efforts reduce the number of hospitalizations, emergency department visits and days missed from school, but more importantly, we want to save lives."
