The severe weather that blew through the Tri-State Thursday night spawned a tornado in Ripley County, the National Weather Service confirmed Friday.
The weather service says preliminary information from a damage survey team that visited Ripley County Friday morning is that the damage is consistent with a low end enhanced Fujita scale 1 tornado. A EF1 tornado has winds of 86 mph to 110 mph.
The most significant damage was to a modular home located between Osgood, Ind. and Napoleon, Ind., the weather service said. Officials said maximum wind speeds were estimated to be 90 mph.
