PEORIA, AZ (CBS5) -

A man in a motorized wheelchair was found unconscious and taken to a nearby hospital after a fire in his Peoria townhome on Friday morning.

The man in his mid-50s was found about six feet from the front door in full cardiac arrest, said Rick Picard of the Peoria Fire Department.

Picard said the man was revived by paramedics and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

They said the fire started in the back bedroom of the house near Beardsley Road and 91st Avenue about 8:30 a.m.

Picard said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
