2 living in Phoenix shed badly burned in fire

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Two people were badly burned when the shed they were living in caught fire in a west Phoenix neighborhood early Friday morning.

The victims, a man and woman between 50 and 60 years old, were unable to get out of the shed near 35th Avenue and north of the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway after it caught fire, said Phoenix Fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs.

The fire began about 6:30 a.m. outside the shed and burned to the shed, and both victims were injured as they tried to escape from inside, Jacbos said. They were both outside the shed when fire crews arrived, Jacobs said.

The man suffered "significant" burns and the woman has moderate burns, Jacobs said. They were both hospitalized in serious condition.

No other information was immediately available.
