Vein Guys to hold memorial service for Thomson plane crash victims

EVANS, GA (WFXG) - The local company that lost five of its employees in a Thomson plane crash a year ago is holding a memorial service this week for the victims.

Vein Guys and Revivify Church will host the service from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Columbia County Library auditorium located at 7022 Evans Towne Center Blvd.

Steven Roth, a surgeon for Vein Guys, and four other employees - Lisa Volpitto, Heidi McCorkle, Tiffany Porter and Kim Davidson - died on Feb. 20, 2013 when a utility pole at the Thomson-McDuffie County Airport sheared off the left wing of the plane and caused the crash.

The five were on their way back from a surgery practice in Tennessee.

A memorial fund has been established for the children who lost a parent in the crash. Donations can be mailed to The Vein Guys Memorial Fund at 4350 Towne Centre Dr., Ste. 2000, Evans, GA, 30809.
