A man wanted in Phoenix on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor was caught by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Columbus, NM, port.

CBP said Petronio Rivera Rodriguez, 56, was taken into custody as he entered the port from Mexico.

Through Rodriguez's legal permanent resident card, officers confirmed the FBI warrant for his arrest was originally issued in Arizona on Oct. 9, 1998.

Rodriguez was later turned over to Luna County sheriff's officers where he is being held without bond.
