In June of last year construction began on a permanent exhibition and centerpiece for the Museum of Alabama at the state's Department of Archives and History; it was to be called Alabama Voices. Well here we are nine months later and Alabama Voices is ready to be unveiled for all to see.
Occupying nearly 11, 000 square feet, this exhibition will tell the story of Alabama from 1700 to the turn of the 21st century through the voices of the people who shaped its history. Alabama Voices will be an inclusive overview of our state's past, a full telling of the struggle, achievement, conflict and cooperation that created the Alabama we know today.
The Grand Opening of the Alabama Voices exhibition will be on Saturday, February 15th commemorated by Governor and Mrs. Robert Bentley at 9:30am. It's sure to be a great time with musical performances, speakers, artist demonstrations and activities for children and families.
I strongly encourage everyone to check out Alabama Voices out on the 15th or whenever your schedule permits and join in the celebration and learning of Alabama history and heritage. For more information, please call 328-9088.
