KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Jackson County Prosecutors have charged a man previously sought as a person of interest for a homicide case last month.

Prosecutors have charged 35-year-old Jermaine A. Lane with second-degree murder in the beating death of 41-year-old Rondell E. Robinson.

Police were wanting to question Lane after a body was found in the back yard of a south Kansas City home. Authorities were called to the home in the 7000 block of Jackson Avenue about 7:20 a.m. Jan. 29.

When officers arrived on the scene, they contacted a resident of the home who had found the man's body lying in her back yard.

The man was identified as Robinson of Kansas City. The cause of death is unknown, but officers said at the time they were investigating it as a homicide.

Police said they believe the resident and Robinson were prior acquaintances.

Prosecutors requested a $250,000 bond. Lane is still at large.
