The thought of legal marijuana is something completely foreign to many of us.
For decades, buying, selling and using marijuana has been against the law. People have gone to jail. Many are still in jail. Now, there seems to be a growing movement to decriminalize marijuana. In fact, it's now okay to buy in Colorado and will be soon in Washington state. Alaska could be next.
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal says he would be open to the idea of medical marijuana becoming legal. Other lawmakers are floating the idea of making pot legal for everyone in the state.
In Texas, Governor Rick Perry emphasized that he is not for the legalization of marijuana but defended states' rights to make those choices. He said it's perfectly constitutional for states like Colorado to experiment with decriminalization.
I think Governor Perry is on to something. To me, it's about personal responsibility and the 10th amendment, states rights. Let the voters of each state decide. Let me know what you think.
