Several closures scheduled for Augusta-area roads

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Several closures are scheduled on Augusta roads this week for construction and maintenance, according to Georgia Department of Transportation officials.

Mike Padgett Highway will be closed at the rail crossing in McBean between 8 a.m. Tuesday and 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A signed detour will be in place using Hephzibah-McBean Road and State Route 121/U.S. 25. Advance warning signs and barricades will be located at intersections prior to the closure.

One outside lane on each side of Deans Bridge Road between Augusta Tech Drive and Kipling Road will be closed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A single lane at the intersection of Wrightsboro Road and Belair Road will be closed between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Motorists should also watch for maintenance on several other roads between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, including:

  • a single lane closure for bridge joint maintenance on Interstate 520 between mile markers 16 and 17 east and west at Laney Walker Boulevard and Sand Bar Ferry Road
