GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An 11-year-old boy is back home and recovering after he fell more than 100 feet down a well at a Greenville County home Tuesday night.

Emery Howard has a cast that's mending a broken arm, but he also has a few other injuries that have him resting at home.

"I've got bad bruised legs, I got a bruised heel, and I have a fracture in my shoulder blade," Emery said.

But he is alive. Emery was playing with friends at a home on Fews Chapel Road at Highway 101 in Greer when he fell through a porch covering over a well and fell nearly 150 feet.

The homeowner said the well was securely covered, but Emery was able to fall through. His shoes were still floating in the water at the bottom of the well when FOX Carolina sent a GoPro camera down the deep, dark well Wednesday.

"That's my miracle baby now, that's my miracle child," said Emery's mom, Kimberly Howard.

His family said they did not know what happened until they saw the rescue helicopter landing. It took rescue crews a few hours and lots of rope to pull Emery out before they could fly him to the hospital.

"My first thought was him, and I started having a bad feeling," Kimberly Howard said. "I got my stepson and said 'Chris, you got to go check on your brother.'"

And after that, it was a night that never seemed to end. Emery's mother said between the cold weather and the water that he was in, she wasn't sure if she would see her son alive again.

"It was about three hours, but it felt like it took all night long," she said. "It was a long time for me."

Emery described the experience, saying rescuers had to wrap something up through his legs, his arms and then pulled him up. And after nearly a day in the hospital and some rest, he said he still hurts.

When asked what Emery will take away from the fall, his mom said "to not go on other people's property." And Emery agreed the fall may keep him from exploring.

His family said they hope he will feel up to returning to school Tuesday.

And for the property, the homeowner said she is working to get crews to seal off the well with concrete. Deputies said though she had the option to press charges for trespassing, that is not likely.
