'Suspicious' brush fire comes close to homes in Aiken Co.

GRANITEVILLE, SC (WFXG) -

A brush fire came very close to some homes in a Graniteville subdivision Monday afternoon before firefighters extinguished it. 

Flames from the fire damaged some homes in the Sage Creek subdivision off Bettis Academy Road. 

Fire department officials believe the fire is suspicious. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating. 

Firefighters had the fire extinguished by 2:45 p.m.

Residents came home to find charred fencing, melted vinyl siding, and cable TV equipment singed.

One neighbor said the fire even scorched her back door, scaring her children.

    The Bay County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Facebook the suspect is Kevin Robert Holroyd, 49. He is wanted in connection to a homicide.
