Shooting investigated near elementary school

ANTIOCH, TN (WSMV) -

A shooting investigation prompted a brief "lockout" at a nearby Metro school Monday afternoon.

Police said the victim flagged down an officer for help outside a liquor store after being shot on Rural Hill Road around 1 p.m.

The victim was hit in the arm and the bullet went into his torso, police said. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is expected to survive.

The incident triggered a short "lockout" to protect children at Lakeview Elementary Design Center on Rural Hill Road, said district spokesman Joe Bass.

Police have not announced any arrests in the case.
