Kidnapping suspect who forced school lockdown arrested by deputies

ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

Three Rock Hill School District schools were on lock downs Monday afternoon as deputies from the York County Sheriff's Office searched for a man wanted on kidnapping and domestic violence charges.

Officials with the School District say Independence Elementary School was dismissed on time under a modified preventive lockdown under the direction of the school resource officers.

Castle Heights Middle School is moved from a lockdown to a modified lockdown with extra security on hand for student dismissal.

Rock Hill High School was on a preventive lockdown.

Deputies arrested Hayward Stone Wurdemann who was wanted on charges for criminal domestic violence and kidnapping, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Wurdemann was arrested in the area around Firetower Road.
