GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Meteorologist Ted Phaeton said Monday will start off mostly sunny for the morning commute with light winds out of the South and West.

"Clouds will continue to build throughout the day as temperatures approach the mid-50s area wide," Phaeton said.

Phaeton expects rain to move into western North Carolina and the Upstate in the late afternoon hours.

"Showers will stick around overnight, but clear out by early Tuesday, when we will see partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies in the Upstate while the Mountains see a little more in the way of cloud cover," Phaeton said.

Phaeton said he expects cooler temperatures to return to the region by Wednesday.
