Murder suspect captured in McDuffie County

MCDUFFIE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

A murder suspect, Matthew Thomas Cliett, 29, of Dearing, has been captured  in McDuffie County.

Cliett was taken into custody Saturday evening by the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office.

Cliett was located on foot in the area of Fort Creek Road just east of Hobbs Mill Road Extension in Dearing, Georgia. Cliett is charged with one count of Murder and is currently being held at the McDuffie County Detention Center.

Special Agent-in-Charge Pat Morgan with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Cliett allegedly shot and killed Andrew James Funderberg, 47, of Augusta, earlier in the day on the 200 block of Moore Avenue in McDuffie County.

GBI and the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office worked jointly on this investigation.
