WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A man was arrested Saturday in connection to an early morning hit-and-run incident in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on Market Street.

Officials with the Wilmington Police Department say Patrick Spaid had been drinking and tried to leave the hotel around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to authorities, the hotel's clerk stepped in to stop him, but Spaid dragged the clerk with his vehicle through the parking lot.

Officials said the clerk was taken to the hospital with scrapes and head injuries but is expected to be okay.

Spaid was charged with DWI, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries, and careless and reckless driving.
