AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Officials are investigating a building fire that happened last week on Broad Street as a possible arson, according to a Richmond County Sheriff's Office incident report.
The fire started around 4 a.m. Friday inside an apartment at a building at 12th and Broad Street.
The fire started on the floor of an apartment on the third floor, Lt. Bradley Carlton said. According to the report, the owner of the building said that apartment was leased.
There are no suspects in the case, investigators said.
One person was rescued from the third floor of the building during the fire. Firefighters worked into Friday afternoon to put out the fire. Several families were displaced.
