AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Lawmakers visited the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center Monday afternoon, looking for answers after the deaths of 3 patients, who they say didn't get timely treatment.
Ultimately, the group said they want staff to be held accountable for their missteps, if any, and to ensure the lack of care never happens again.
The delegation was led by Congressman Jeff Miller of Florida and also included local representatives.
"We want to know why," said Congressman Paul Broun. "We ask those questions why. We expect those answers to ultimately be given to us, in that process."
Officials said this will not be the last visit by the group. They're planning to keep the channels of communication open as they move forward.
