A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer who was shot while serving a warrant in South Carolina was released from the hospital Monday, according to officials with CMPD.

Officer Shane Page was involved in a shooting at a home along the 300 block of Brookside Drive in Fort Mill while trying to serve a warrant on 31-year-old James William Lewis in early January.

Lewis, officials told WBTV, was wanted for robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection to a robbery at a fast food restaurant in Pineville that occurred in December.

Incident reports from York County Sheriff's Officials state that officers tried knocking on the door of the home, but used a loud speaker when no one came to the door.

Lewis' girlfriend, 21-year-old Kirstie Elaine Philomena Barratt, then came to the door, told the officers she had not seen Lewis for two months, and gave them permission to search the home.

Barratt was later arrested for obstructing justice.

The reports state that Lewis was found in an upstairs bedroom soon after officers entered the house, and there was an exchange of gunfire.

Officer Page, and Lewis, were both injured in the shooting.

Page was shot in the shoulder and abdomen. Lewis was shot in the leg, according to a source, and officers say he sustained only minor injuries.

During a press conference on Tuesday morning, CMPD Chief Rodney Monroe said that Officer Page was out of surgery and expected to make a full recovery.

Page is a member of the Violent Criminals Apprehension Team with CMPD and has been with the department since September 2000.

VCAT was working with a task force from the FBI and the York County Sheriff's Office in the joint operation, a source told WBTV.

Officer Shane Page was one of five members of the VCAT team that was given a Medal of Valor in 2006 for Bravery Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.

The team was attempting to serve a warrant at a suspect's home, when the suspect fired a shot that struck Officer Kayvan Hazrati in the head.

The team placed their lives in jeopardy to retrieve Officer Hazrati and transport him to the hospital. Hazrati survived the gunshot wound and is recovering.
