WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Dry weather is likely to close 2013 and begin 2014. A cold front could bring showers for Thursday, January 2, and a shot of much colder air for Friday, January 3.
MONDAY NIGHT: Expect many clouds, light north breezes, and low temperatures mainly in the upper 30s and lower 40s inland and lower and middle 40s for the coast. Shower chance: 10%.
NEW YEARS EVE (DAY PORTION): A slim 10% shower chance will accompany variable clouds for the morning, but skies will trend clearer for the afternoon. Also expect highs mainly in the upper 50s and light northwest breezes.
NEW YEARS EVE (EVENING AND OVERNIGHT PORTION): Expect mostly clear skies with temperatures dropping from the 40s into the 30s by midnight. Be safe if you're headed out!
NEW YEARS DAY THROUGH FRIDAY: New Years Day: tranquil, highs near 60. Thursday: 50% chance of showers, highs in the 60s. Friday: clearing and colder, highs in the 40s.
EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Dry and cold weather will prevail through Saturday. A new cold front may bring scattered showers Sunday and Monday... and then a fresh surge of cold weather for next Tuesday.
