Deputies say a fight led to a stabbing in Edgefield County

EDGEFIELD COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -

Edgefield County Deputies say a fight between two families sparked a stabbing at St. Edwards church in the Murphy Village Community Friday afternoon.

The Edgefield County Sheriff's Department said the fight involved at least 20 people and it ended with one person being stabbed. That person was taken to an Augusta hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies said since the fight, multiple people have shown up at the hospital with injuries. Sheriff's investigators say they're still looking into the case, but believe the church was just a meeting place for the two families.

The Edgefield County Sheriff's Department is investigating the cause of the fight.
