2 people die in Christmas Eve crash on I-20

The Warren County Coroner's Office is working to identify two people who died in a crash on Interstate 20 on Christmas Eve.

The two people were traveling eastbound near mile marker 161 around 5 p.m. Tuesday when their vehicle ran into the median, Coroner Paul Lowe said. The driver then overcorrected and crashed into a wooded area.

The car burst into flames, Lowe said, and the driver and the passenger both died.

The bodies were taken the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta Thursday for identification, Lowe said. He said he believes they have identified the bodies and located the next of kin, but are waiting on the results from the crime lab.
