WEST PRICE HILL (FOX19) -

Two people were injured, including an infant, following a house fire in West Price Hill on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the 900 block of Suire Avenue at about 2 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire in a two-family home. Authorities said a mother was standing in front of the building holding an unresponsive infant. There were also heavy fire conditions on the first floor.

While paramedics treated the baby, firefighters began an aggressive interior attack and searched the entire home.

District Fire Chief Daniel Merz said the fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. All of the occupants were able to get out of the home prior to firefighters arriving on scene.

The fire was confined to the first floor, however there was smoke damage throughout the building. Damage is estimated at $35,000.

In total, 57 firefighters responded to the scene and were not injured.

Authorities said one adult resident received a minor injury and the infant was in critical condition. Both were taken to area hospitals for treatment. A dog died in the fire.

Four adults and three children were displaced and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The baby has undergone two surgeries for the burns. He's in critical but stable condition at Shriners Hospital for Children.
